Rita Hart Congratulates Lanon Baccam on 3rd District Win

August 13, 2024

DES MOINES - Chair of the Iowa Democratic Party Rita Hart issued the following statement congratulating Lanon Baccam on Aug 13th’s unofficial election results:

“Lanon has served our country as a combat engineer in Afghanistan and our farmers and veterans with Tom Vilsack at USDA. Ever since he announced his candidacy for Iowa’s Third Congressional District he’s been laying out his plan to lower costs for Iowans, protect Social Security and Medicare and maintain reproductive rights for women. Lanon is poised to serve our state well.

Iowa’s Third Congressional District has been poorly represented by Zach Nunn – who hasn’t shown up to a single public town hall in the last two years – for too long. Nunn has caved to MAGA priorities and failed to display any sort of leadership while serving in the least successful majority party in the U.S. House of Representatives in our nation’s history. He has voted to take away reproductive rights for women, gut funding for the Social Security Administration, and make cuts to Small Business Administration programs that support small businesses.

It’s time for Iowa’s Third Congressional District to elect Lanon Baccam, who will put Iowans before politics.”
