Help Wanted: Nation’s Least Popular Governor is Looking for a New Lt.

September 4, 2024

DES MOINES – Kim Reynolds, known for being the nation’s least popular Governor, is looking for a new running mate for 2026 after Lt. Gov Adam Gregg resigned on Sept. 3.

Since Reynolds hasn’t published the job opening yet, the Iowa Democratic Party thought we’d help compile a list of what she’s likely looking for in a Lt. Gov.

Qualifications for job:

  • Puts politics above Iowans

  • Endorses losing campaigns for President

  • Supports unpopular legislation like abortion bans and school vouchers

  • Is eager to join the most unpopular Governor in the nation

“Unsurprisingly, the least popular Governor in the nation is looking for a new running mate,” said Paige Godden, Spokesperson for the Iowa Democratic Party. “Our next Lt. Governor needs to be ready to support an unpopular governor and her disastrous agenda that includes six-week abortion bans, school vouchers, and underfunding our AEAs. The IDP wishes Iowa’s next Lt. Governor luck while he or she considers boarding Reynolds’ sinking ship.”
