Career Politician Mike Bousselot Jumps Into Governor’s Race After Aiding and Abetting Iowa’s Economic Downfall

April 21, 2025

Bousselot Championed  Reynolds’ Disastrous Economic Agenda

DES MOINES -- On April 21st, Kim Reynolds’ apple-polisher, Mike Bousselot, announced an exploratory campaign for Governor.

During his time serving in the Iowa Senate, Bousselot voted to make Reynolds’ agenda – which turned her into the least popular Governor in America – a reality.

Bousselot, who is a life-long Republican staffer, is the architect of Iowa’s Medicaid privatization efforts, which has driven providers out of the state, increased healthcare prices, and cost Iowans their healthcare.

He also created the legislation that took away the power for the state Auditor to oversee spending of state agencies and programs such as Iowa’s voucher program that gives taxpayer money to private schools.

“Iowans are expressing their unhappiness with Reynolds’ unpopular agenda, so they must reject Mike Bousselot — who has spent his life drafting legislation that has left our state 49th in the nation in economic growth and 48th in personal income growth,” said IDP Spokesperson Paige Godden. “Mike Bousselot is a career politician who has helped create some of Iowa’s most disastrous laws including Medicaid privatization that cost Iowans their healthcare plans and made life more difficult and more expensive.”
