Winsome, Lose Some: Sears Struggles to Escape Extreme Record and Out of Touch Comments

April 18, 2025

VIRGINIA – It’s been another week of losses for Winsome Earle-Sears as the Virginia Democrats launched a new digital ad highlighting Sears downplaying and dismissing attacks on Virginia jobs. Sears can’t hide from her extreme record and schemes to sell out Virginians.

SETTLING THIS WEEK’S SCORE

Winsome’s Wins:

    • Save the Date: In a recent interview with WVTF, Virginia Republican Party Chair Mark Peake invited Donald Trump to campaign in Virginia. This comes as Winsome Earle-Sears defends Trump's attacks on Virginia’s workforce and economy and follows Sears’ campaign boasting about private conversations with Trump and declaring that she is more conservative than him.

Winsome’s Losses:

    • Winsome Won’t Comment: New reporting from Virginia Scope highlights Winsome Earle-Sears’ extreme record on abortion and contraception including her support of the extreme Texas law that bans abortion after six weeks and her recent tie-breaking vote against the Right to Contraception Act. Continuing her ongoing pattern of dodging the media, Sears declined to provide a comment for the story.

    • Still a “Huge, Huge Thing”: This week, Virginia Democrats released a new ad highlighting Winsome Earle-Sears - in her own words - downplaying the attacks on Virginia jobs as the unemployment rate in Virginia increases. In the audio first reported by Meidas Touch, Winsome Earle-Sears says “the media is making it out to be a huge, huge thing… and I don’t understand why.”

    • Tariff Turmoil: As Donald Trump’s tariff chaos causes uncertainty for Virginia businesses and families, Winsome Earle-Sears thinks it’s “good” and a “benefit.” Sears’ comments from behind closed doors come after her campaign refused to answer questions from the media about Trump’s reckless tariffs.

And with Winsome, it’s Virginians who stand to lose the most:

  • With Winsome Earle-Sears focused on an extreme agenda backing ongoing attacks on Virginia jobs and workers, defunding public schools, and ripping away reproductive rights, Virginians stand to lose the most.
