Winsome, Lose Some: Sears Makes It 'Clear' She Doesn't Think Attacks on Virginia Jobs Are A 'Real Issue'
August 4, 2025
VIRGINIA - This week, as Donald Trump’s reckless actions continue to hurt Virginia’s jobs and economy, Winsome Earle-Sears doubles down on saying the attacks aren’t an issue for Virginians.
SETTLING THIS WEEK’S SCORE
Winsome’s Wins:
- In Full Transparency: In a CNN interview today, when asked if she supports Donald Trump’s attacks on Virginia’s jobs, Winsome Earle-Sears refused to answer the question, instead saying she wants “to talk about real issues.”
Winsome’s Losses:
- Mum’s the word: Sears again refused to explain why she’s backing the law, and dismissed the devastating impact on Virginians.
- Stealing the limelight: This week, Virginia Democrats launched three billboards along I-64 highlighting Winsome Earle-Sears praising the Trump tax bill that’s taking healthcare away from 322,000 Virginians and will force at least six rural hospitals to close.
- One of these is not like the other: Republican State Senator Chris Head spoke out against the healthcare cuts saying, “There is a foreboding fear among all of the hospital administrators that I’m in contact with. It is going to be critical for us to come up with a plan to triage.”
- Too little, too late: Virginians called Sears out for dismissing their concerns about the healthcare cuts. Anna Maria Mendez explained “[Sears] was asked about these cuts. She said, ‘Don’t panic.’ Well guess what. We’re already panicking. [...] We panic when we have to choose between caregiving and paying our rent.”
As Virginians across the Commonwealth are stripped of health care and rural hospitals are forced to close, this week was just more proof that with Winsome, it’s Virginians who stand to lose the most.
