VIRGINIA - New reporting from the Virginia Independent details Winsome Earle-Sears’ comments telling Virginians “don’t panic” as the Trump tax bill strips 322,00 Virginians of their health insurance and forces at least six rural hospitals to close. 

The Virginia Independent: Earle-Sears tells Virginians not to panic about Trump’s massive cuts to Medicaid

• Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears, the Republican gubernatorial nominee, said President Donald Trump’s budget bill ‘does so many great things.’
• Virginia Republican gubernatorial nominee Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears dismissed concerns that Medicaid cuts in President Donald Trump’s newly enacted budget law will reduce access to health care in rural parts of Virginia. 
• The minority staff of Congress’ Joint Economic Committee estimates that 322,984 Virginians will lose their health insurance coverage as a result. 
• According to the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association, those cuts will cost Virginia hospitals more than $2 billion annually in revenue and force several of the commonwealth’s rural hospitals to close or reduce services. 
• During a July 11 press conference, a reporter asked Earle-Sears how she responds to concerns that the cuts will hurt Virginians and Virginia’s rural hospitals. [...] “So I would say to Virginia, don’t panic,” Earle-Sears added, “[...]”
