LANSING - With new federal support to protect the Great Lakes from invasive species, Governor Gretchen Whitmer has delivered record investments to block invasive carp from accessing one of the world’s most beloved natural resources. In response, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Curtis Hertel released the following statement:

“As every Michigander knows, the Great Lakes are an environmental treasure and a key part of Michigan’s economy. Thanks to Governor Whitmer’s hard work defending against invasive carp, people across the state will be able to enjoy the Lakes for generations to come.

“We are so grateful for Governor Whitmer and Michigan Democrats’ continued leadership as they deliver yet another important economic and environmental win for Michiganders and their families.”
