Nebraska Democratic Party Statement on Ashlei Spivey Officially Elected to the Nebraska State Legislature

LINCOLN, NE – The Nebraska Democratic Party Chair Jane Kleeb issues the following statement regarding Ashlei Spivey being elected to the state legislature to represent the voters of Legislature District 13 after the Douglas County Election Commission’s final ballot count on Nov 18th:

“We are proud of the campaign Ashlei Spivey ran that stayed in touch with working and middle-class voters throughout her district. Ashlei becomes the first black woman to be in the legislature since 2016. She brings her experiences as a small business owner and founder of a nonprofit that helps new mothers.”

State Senator-elect Ashlei Spivey provided the following statement:

“It is an honor to be selected by the voters of District 13 to represent our interests in Lincoln. I look forward to passing policy that puts resources and investment back into our community and across the state – truly helping people have access and opportunity to the good life Nebraska has to offer. It’s time to get to work!”
