Happy Friday, Washington Democrats!

Working for Washington

I hope your holiday was restful and recharging. We’re all gonna need every ounce of energy to stand up to the incoming Trump Administration. This past week, I was in Scottsdale, AZ with members of the Association of State Democratic Committees – the organization of state party chairs. While there, I made it my mission to share the strategies and tactics that worked for us here in Washington and which should be exported to other states.

Now that all the ballots are counted, we know that Washington was the ONLY state in the country to keep the Trump shift below one percent, essentially a draw. Even more impressively – when looking at all statewide elections (not just President) we actually went just slightly more blue and won every statewide race. Thank you for everything you did to help us achieve victory and fight the Republicans to a draw. We all know Washington is special. Now it’s our duty to share our secret sauce with the rest of the country!

Re-organization and Re-election

As some of our most committed supporters, I wanted you to be among the first to know that at next month’s State Democratic Party Re-Organization Meeting, I will be running for re-election as Chair of the Washington Democrats. With a second Trump Administration, we need everyone able and willing to take part in the resistance. As your Chair, I have had the honor and privilege of leading the most professional and effective state party in the country.

Together, we won every statewide elected office, increased our legislative majorities for the fifth cycle in a row, withstood a six-point national swing towards the Republicans and raised more than $10 million to make it all happen. With our embrace of new media and constituency/relational organizing, I intend to use a second term as Chair to push our ideas and approach across the rest of the country. I humbly ask our State Committee Members for their vote to continue working on behalf of every Washington Democrat.

Thank you, Jay!

Governor Inslee has dedicated his professional life to making Washington a better place to live, work, and raise a family. Thank you, Governor Inslee for your 12 years of service at the top of our state government and your many years in the U.S. House of Representatives. WA Dems will be hosting a farewell party for Governor Inslee to celebrate his numerous accomplishments in early January. Please join us by clicking the graphic above or going here.

What I’m Reading

Both Republicans and Democrats are optimistic about WA’s 2024 election results. Here’s why., The News Tribune – While it’s true that Trump eventually did gain ground in Washington from 2020 (less than 1%) if you look at ALL statewide races between 2020 and 2024, we went bluer by just over 0.1% – not a lot, but holding serve while the rest of the country toppled red is an achievement that we can all be proud of.
