Sears has repeatedly defended and downplayed Donald Trump’s attacks on Virginia jobs that cost the Commonwealth the “Top State for Business” ranking
VIRGINIA - On July 12, 2025, the U.S. State Department announced they would fire an additional 1,300 employees, continuing the attacks on Virginia jobs that have devastated Virginians and the Commonwealth’s economy. Winsome Earle-Sears has repeatedly cheered on the attacks and downplayed and dismissed the impact and the severity of losing a job, despite reports of Virginia’s economy slowing, unemployment skyrocketing, and the Commonwealth losing the “Top State for Business” ranking.
“As Virginians have lost their jobs and faced layoffs and uncertainty, Winsome Earle-Sears has cheered on Trump’s attacks on the Commonwealth’s jobs and economy and said she doesn’t understand why this is a ‘huge, huge thing.’ As these attacks on Virginia jobs continue, Sears must answer for cheering on an agenda that’s devastating Virginia’s economy,” said DPVA Spokesperson Maggie Amjad.
