Will Matt Hall and MIGOP State Reps Bother to Show Up to Legislative Session Today?

December 18, 2024

With just two days remaining before the legislature wraps for the year, will Hall and his caucus actually do their job today

LANSING — Last week, “leader” Matt Hall led the Republican House caucus in bailing on Michiganders and walking out of the legislative session. Instead of working with Democrats to improve Michigan’s infrastructure and bolster our economy, these Republicans decided to abandon their jobs in favor of their extremist agenda… again. Before today’s House session begins, the question on everyone’s mind today: will Matt Hall and his far-right caucus bother to do the jobs that Michiganders pay them for?

“Normally, when people are hired and paid to do a job, they actually show up, but clearly, Matt Hall and House Republicans don’t feel that applies to them,” said Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Lavora Barnes. “Hall has already missed over 30 votes this year and is now leading the entire House caucus in abandoning Michiganders as well. Now the question is, will he bother showing up today?

“Michiganders deserve better than this from their elected leaders. We look forward to Republicans putting aside this partisan tantrum and coming together to serve our great state.”
