Statement from Wyoming Democratic Party in Response to Supreme Court Decision in Trump v. United States

Cheyenne - The Wyoming Democratic Party has issued the following statement in response to the Supreme Court Decision in Trump v. United States:

“Here are the facts: Donald Trump inspired a violent mob to attack our nation’s Capitol. He attempted to subvert the results of a free and fair election on January 6. Since then, Trump has only become more unhinged, promising to be a dictator on “day one” if he returns to the White House, and warning of a “bloodbath” if he loses. Make no mistake: Trump is willing to do anything in his quest for revenge and retribution, and we know that he will put himself above our Constitution, above American voters, and above democracy itself – and the Supreme Court just made it even easier for Donald Trump to pursue his path to a Trump dictatorship.

“The fact that Senators Barrasso and Lummis are applauding the actions of the court should cause concern for every Wyomingite. If our federal legislators are okay with the idea of a president being treated more like a monarch, they ought to crack open a history book to see what our nation’s founders thought on that topic - and the week we celebrate Independence Day is probably a particularly good time to get caught up.”  -WDP Chair Joe M. Barbuto
