WDP Chair’s Statement on 2024 Primary Election Results

August 21, 2024

Cheyenne – Wyoming Democratic Party Chair Joe M Barbuto has issued the following statement regarding the results of the 2024 Primary Election.

“Last night, Wyomingites attending the Democratic National Convention in Chicago and those tuning in from their homes across the state heard leaders, activists, and every-day Americans share messages of hope, decency, investing in our communities, and preserving democracy. At the same time, Freedom Caucus candidates across Wyoming – a group that has built their political identities around sowing hate, division, misinformation, and fear – defeated their moderate Republican opponents in primary contests all around our state.

Clearly, the Wyoming Republican Party has abandoned the traditional and core values of freedom, prosperity, and opportunity that once defined their party in favor of a bleak vision for our state that puts their failed ideology ahead of everything and everyone else.

Now, reasonable people – which isn’t something that is determined by the letter behind your name – must unite around the policies and candidates that truly reflect the foundation of hard work, innovation, and integrity that built our state. Wyoming Democrats are working towards a bright and hopeful future for the Equality State and invite all those who share that vision to join us in  making it a reality in 2024 and beyond.”
