Trump's Clown Car: AmericaFest's Most Extreme MAGA Republicans
December 19, 2024
ARIZONA - On December 19, 2024 marks the first day of “AmericaFest,” a far-right, white supremacist conference hosted by “TurningPoint USA.” TPUSA employs one of Arizona’s 11 “fake electors” and employed a Republican state Representative accused of signature fraud. Charlie Kirk, the organization’s leader, and right-wing podcaster, has called for violence against transgender Americans, attacked Dr. King and civil rights, and has said, “I want to make sure we all make a commitment that if this election doesn’t go our way, the next day we’d fight.”
Donald Trump is set to end the “AmericaFest” on Sunday, a conference that has been known for being a “Right-wing […] wild carnival of fun-filled fascism” and a display of “gaudy GOP extremism.”
“Donald Trump is bringing a clown car of extreme Republicans to Arizona this weekend, “ said Arizona Democratic Party Chairwoman Yolanda Bejarano. “Rather than focusing on the issues that Arizonans care about most, like lowering costs, funding public schools, and protecting our water future, Donald Trump and TPSUA will be platforming white supremacy and hate. While Republicans spread division, Arizona Democrats are our last line of defense and will fight against hate and protect Arizonans rights.”
Here’s a short list of the extreme Republicans Speaking:
- Tucker Carlson: disgraced former Fox News host best known for his obsession with the green M&M, saying that immigrants are making the country “poorer, and dirtier, and more divided,” and calling the January 6th insurrectionist “sightseers.”
- Speaker Mike Johnson: who served as the chair of the Republican Study Committee, leading their efforts in pushing for cuts to Social Security and Medicare, tried to overturn Arizona’s votes in the 2020 election and has vowed to “[…] get the number of abortions to zero.”
- Matt Gaetz: Trump’s former choice for Attorney General who has been investigated by the House Ethics Committee with allegations that he “engaged in sexual misconduct, used illicit drugs, shared inappropriate images or videos on the House floor, misused state identification records, converted campaign funds to personal use, and/or accepted a bribe.”
- Roger Stone: election denier and conspiracy theorist was caught on recording calling for Republicans to send “armed guards” to polling locations.
- Lauren Boebert: has profited from her position in Congress and as a loud conspiracy theorist, using campaign funds for personal entertainment and starting a Cameo with video prices starting at $250.
- Sebastian Gorka: is most known for wearing a medal associated with a Hungarian nation group with Nazi-affiliations and for being one of “the most prominent proponents of a Trump administration ban of refugees and people from certain predominantly Muslim countries” during his short stint in Trump’s first administration.
The Arizona Democratic Party is focused on protecting incumbent Democrats and electing more Democrats up and down the ballot this next election cycle. Voters can visit azdem.org to make a donation or learn more about key priorities within the Party.
