Statement: Michigan Dems Call Out James, Barrett, and Huizenga for Voting to Gut Medicaid

LANSING - With the House voting to send Republicans’ cruel budget to Trump’s desk, Republican Congressmen John James, Tom Barrett, and Bill Huizenga are devastating Michigan families across the state as they rip away SNAP and Medicaid. In response, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Curtis Hertel released the following statement: 

“Congressmen James, Barrett, and Huizenga are betraying the very Michiganders they promised to serve when they chose Donald Trump’s reckless agenda over parents with cancer and hungry children. This House vote was the final chance to put a stop to a budget that will wreak havoc on Michigan families who are just trying to raise their children, but once again, Republicans are putting billionaires first. 

“Congressmen James, Barrett, and Huizenga are a disgrace to the House, a disgrace to the Michiganders they represent, and a disgrace to our nation. Michiganders will not forget what they’ve done when November comes.”
