Sears Touts Meeting with Trump, But Refuses to Ask Him to Stop Attacking Virginians' Jobs and Healthcare

Sears: “I've already told you the President and I have been in the Oval Office” 

VIRGINIA - In an interview with CNN, Winsome Earle-Sears touted meeting with Donald Trump to discuss her campaign, but failed to stand up to his reckless policies and advocate for Virginians’ jobs and healthcare. 
 
“Winsome Earle-Sears has bragged again and again about her trip to the White House where she had the opportunity to stand up for Virginians’ jobs and healthcare to Trump’s face. She didn’t advocate for the Commonwealth then, and she definitely won't fight for them as governor,” said DPVA Spokesperson Maggie Amjad.

In a CNN interview, when asked if she supports Donald Trump’s attacks on Virginia’s jobs, Winsome Earle-Sears refused to answer and dismissed the jobs cuts saying she wants “to talk about real issues” instead.
 
Sears has defended Trump’s attacks on Virginia’s workforce and economy.

• She told the Associated Press that she backed Trump’s efforts and she doubled down.
• She also said Virginians facing layoffs will “be all right.”
• The Youngkin-Sears administration’s response to workers at risk of losing their jobs was “update your resume.”
• As Donald Trump attacked Virginia's workforce and economy, Sears declared she would help Trump “get the job done” if she were governor. 
• Sears has also said “I’m supporting what the President is doing.” 

Winsome Earle-Sears has dismissed and laughed off attacks on Virginia jobs over and over again.

• Winsome Earle-Sears was caught on tapedismissing and laughing off the attacks on Virginia jobs saying “the media is making it out to be a huge, huge thing… and I don’t understand why.” 
• When a reporter asked about her comments exposed by Meidas Touch, Sears doubled down and said her message to Virginians facing layoffs is “Don’t despair. Please go to the website.” 
• In unearthed audio, Winsome Earle-Sears complains about Donald Trump’s attacks on Virginia jobs harming her campaign as she refuses to stand up for the Commonwealth’s economy and Virginians’ livelihoods.
• Instead of standing up to attacks on Virginia jobs, Sears told Virginians facing layoffs “don’t fret.” 
• Sears also said “just about everybody has lost a job … It is life happening.”

Winsome Earle-Sears cheered on Trump’s tax bill and dismissed the concerns of Virginians being stripped of their health insurance.

• Sears praised Trump’s tax bill saying it “does so many great things” as it stripped 322,000 Virginians of healthcare and put six rural hospitals at risk of closing.
