Ron Johnson Played Direct Role in Fake Elector Plot

January 6, 2025

MADISON, WI - On the anniversary of the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol, a reminder that Wisconsin’s own Ron Johnson played a direct role in the fake elector scheme at the heart of Trump’s plot to overturn the 2020 election.

Despite Johnson’s claims to have known nothing about the plot, security camera footage taped the morning of January 6th reveals the hard truth: Ron Johnson and his staff ferried the forged elector certificates around the Capitol complex in the hours before the riot in an attempt to pass them off to Vice President Mike Pence.

“Ron Johnson has spent the last four years outright lying about his part in Trump’s plot to overturn the 2020 election, but hard evidence of his involvement is clear,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Communications Director Joe Oslund. “Security camera footage and text messages show Johnson was more than happy to be the errand boy delivering forged elector certificates to Mike Pence in the hours ahead of the attack on the U.S. Capitol. Johnson doesn’t get to rewrite history here—he was a willing participant in a plot to disenfranchise Wisconsin voters and overturn the results of a free and fair election.”
