Rich McCormick Votes (Again) to Cut Health Care for Georgia Kids and Families

April 10, 2025

Earlier on April 10th, Rep. Rich McCormick voted again to gut Medicaid, which provides health care for over two million Georgia kids and families.

McCormick voted on April 10th, to advance the Republican budget, which is projected to slash Medicaid by $1.01 billion for roughly 80,400 Georgians in his district who rely on Medicaid for life-saving health care and medicine. McCormick told reporters he conditioned his yes vote on assurances from GOP leadership that “they’re going to make sure that we get at least $1.5 trillion in cuts.”

“This isn’t some abstract concept: Rich McCormick’s vote today will have hugely negative effects on the health of his own constituents,” said DPG spox. “In Georgia, 67% of Medicaid recipients are children, 50% of all childbirths are covered by Medicaid, and 75% of seniors living in nursing homes rely on Medicaid; this vote makes every single one of those Georgians less safe and less healthy.”
