Race to the Right: LaRock and Chase Block Sears’ Once Clear Path to the GOP Nomination

March 12, 2025

VIRGINIA – This week the nasty GOP Governor slugfest continued as Winsome Earle-Sears, Dave LaRock, and Amanda Chase race to the right taking extreme positions and tearing each other down all while leaving Virginians behind.

BUCKLE UP

Birthday party of three: The week started with Sears’ surprise birthday celebration with a theme inspired by this race to the right: the nasty GOP primary. Unfortunately for Sears, it looks like only LaRock and Chase RSVP’d. As expected, a party with Sears, LaRock and Chase means taking extreme positions, tearing each other down, and leaving Virginia jobs behind. Not exactly surprising that no one else wanted to go.

TEXTING & DRIVING

No Reception: Sears’ campaign has become unresponsive, declining to comment on breaking stories affecting Virginia’s economy and outright ignoring requests.

OFF ROADING

Rerouting: With LaRock and Chase entering the race and their campaigns getting off the ground, Cook Political Report said on Thursday, Sears “no longer has a clear path to the GOP nomination for Virginia governor.”

THE FINISH LINE

Bottom line: No matter who comes in first in the race to the right or how much the GOP candidates fight each other, they all agree on the same radical agenda backing ongoing attacks on Virginia jobs and workers, defunding public schools, and ripping away reproductive rights.
