Missouri Dems Stand In Solidarity With Missouri Workers Fighting To Hold Amazon Accountable To The Law

December 19, 2024

On December 19, 2024, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters launched a nationwide strike against Amazon, following Amazon’s repeated refusal to follow the law and bargain with the thousands of workers who organized with the Teamsters. Workers at seven facilities across four states will strike, while Teamsters nationwide will stand up primary picket lines at hundreds of Amazon’s fulfillment centers, including several in Missouri.

“Missouri has long been a proud Union-supporting state, as was made clear in 2018 when Missourians overwhelmingly voted to repeal the so-called ‘right-to-work’ measures enacted by the legislature,” said Teamsters Local 955 President and Chair of the Missouri Democratic Party’s Labor Caucus, Jerry Wood. “Missouri Democrats have long stood alongside Missouri workers fighting for higher wages, better benefits, and safer conditions at work and will only continue to show up for working Missouri families. Amazon’s union-busting campaign is not just anti-worker, it's against the law. The Missouri Democratic Party calls on Amazon to follow the law and get to the bargaining table and urges our colleagues across the aisle to join us in holding Amazon accountable to the rule of law.”
