Accuses Democrats of Promoting the “Jezebel Spirit” on Recent Podcast
INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Republican LG nominee Micah Beckwith continues the Braun/Beckwith woman hating campaign. This time, he slandered the four women Democratic candidates as carrying the “Jezebel spirit”, comparing Democrats to witches as a guest on a recent podcast episode.
The Indiana Democratic ticket is led by four women at the top of the ticket: Kamala Harris, Jennifer McCormick, Valerie McCray, and Destiny Wells.
This adds to the comments Beckwith has made about Hoosier women throughout the campaign and in recent cycles. During the debate over Indiana’s 2022 abortion ban, Beckwith called pro-choice Hoosiers “vile”, “demonic”, and compared them to “wife beaters”.
“Micah Beckwith is wholly unfit to be Indiana’s next lieutenant governor,” said Indiana Democratic Party Vice Chair Myla Eldridge. “Throughout his time in the public eye, Beckwith has only degraded and attacked the very Hoosiers he wants to represent. His latest comments about a ‘Jezebel spirit’ are frankly disgusting and the type of rhetoric that belongs nowhere near our politics.”
“Hoosier women simply want to enjoy the same rights and freedoms over their body and their healthcare that they had for five decades before Republicans passed the very first abortion ban after the Dobbs decision in 2022. We’ve already seen women in life-or-death situations throughout Indiana who have not been able to receive the care they needed because of this ban. If Beckwith and Braun are elected, these tragic situations will only increase, and more Hoosier women will be left without the lifesaving care required as more doctors leave our state and Beckwith uses his office to threaten healthcare workers.”
