Maine Democratic Party Statement on Presidential Debate

September 10, 2024

Maine Democratic Party Chair Bev Uhlenhake released the following statement:

“Vice President Kamala Harris said it best, Mainers deserve a president who will fight for us. Kamala Harris is fighting for our families and our future and as president she will protect our fundamental freedoms, lower costs, ensure access to abortion, strengthen the middle class, and create opportunities for all Mainers to not just get by, but get ahead.

“Donald Trump has no plan to lower costs for middle-class Mainers. He is only looking out for himself and his billionaire buddies–and he has no problem leaving Maine families and small businesses to pay the price. His extreme Project 2025 agenda will rip away our fundamental freedoms, destroy our democracy, and give tax cuts to the ultra-wealthy at the expense of hardworking Mainers.

“On November 5, Mainers will make our voices heard and vote to elect Kamala Harris as the 47th president of the United States, and we will help send Donald Trump to defeat at the ballot box once again.”
