LOVELAND - On December 18, 2024, Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera joined legislators, community leaders, and partners to celebrate the grand opening of The Landing, a regional youth shelter designed to support unaccompanied youth and young adults ages 15-20. Operated by The Matthews House in collaboration with the Thompson and Poudre School Districts, The Landing will offer overnight shelter and comprehensive daytime programming to empower youth with the skills and support needed to become independent.

"The Landing represents more than just a safe place for youth - it’s a symbol of hope and a community’s commitment to ensuring every young person has the opportunity to thrive. Here in Colorado, we believe in lifting each other up, and this shelter will make a lasting difference in the lives of countless young people who need support," said Lt. Governor Primavera.

The new shelter, located at 814 E. 16th Street in Loveland, will accommodate up to 20 overnight guests and serve as a daytime resource center for youth experiencing homelessness. Offering mental health care, educational support, life skills training, and recreational activities, this center will help young people build brighter futures.

Statewide, over 15,000 young people experience homelessness each year, with up to 3,000 in Northern Colorado alone. Of those, 5% are unaccompanied minors. The Landing aims to address this pressing issue by providing both immediate shelter and long-term solutions that build self-sufficiency. The facility is a former Thompson School District early childhood site extensively renovated. It is set to officially open its doors to youth on January 27, 2025.
