Illinois Electors Cast Their Ballots for Harris-Walz

December 17, 2024

Chicago, IL — On Dec 17th, after Illinois’ nineteen Illinois Electoral College members cast their votes for Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz, Democratic Party of Illinois Chair Lisa Hernandez issued the following statement:

“On Dec 17th, nineteen Democratic electors ensured Illinois upheld the sanctity of our electoral process and honored the millions of Illinoisans who cast their ballots for Harris-Walz.”

“I remain incredibly proud of Illinois Democrats’ fighting spirit and commitment to fiercely protecting working families—exemplified by placing today’s votes in a union-made ballot box. No matter the division and regressive policies brought forth by Trump, MAGA Republicans and the Illinois GOP, the Illinois Democratic mission remains clear - we are united in our belief that we are fighting for progress, not retribution, for the working and middle class, not just the rich, and for all, not just the few.”
