Governor Shapiro Orders US, Commonwealth Flags to Half-Staff in Honor of Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter

HARRISBURG, PA - On December 29, 2024, Governor Josh Shapiro ordered United States and Commonwealth flags on all Commonwealth facilities, public buildings, and grounds across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to fly at half-staff immediately in honor of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, who passed away today.

The flags shall be lowered to half-staff until sunset on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

All Pennsylvanians are invited to participate in this tribute. 

Pennsylvanians can receive flag notifications through the AlertPA, or Code Red, system by creating an account on the Alert PA site and selecting the Flag Notifications alert.
