Governor Polis Appoints Kevin Van Winkle as Douglas County Commissioner for District 3

DENVER - On December 17, 2024, Governor Polis appointed Kevin Van Winkle as the Douglas County Commissioner for District 3. This appointment fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Lora L. Thomas on December 6, 2024, and is effective immediately. 

Kevin Van Winkle was elected to serve as the next Douglas County Commissioner for District 3 in the November 5th, 2024 election for a term beginning on January 14, 2025. If unfilled by a vacancy committee for ten days the Colorado Constitution gives the Governor authority to fill this vacancy by appointment within 15 days after the occurrence of the vacancy.
