Florida Democrats Respond to Donald Trump's Debate Comments

September 11, 2024

In response to Donald Trump’s comments at last night’s Presidential Debate, the Florida Democratic Party has issued the following statement:

“Donald Trump spent the entire debate insulting and attacking Floridians,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “Last night, he cozied up to dictators and exploited the pain of Venezuelans for his own political benefit. He amplified heinously racist lies about the Haitian people and doubled down when he was fact checked by the moderators. He refused to answer questions about whether he would sign a law protecting reproductive rights or give up his crusade against the Affordable Care Act — a program that over four million Floridians are signed up for Sep 11th, the most in the country.

“As usual, Donald Trump showed the country that he only cares about one person — himself. Meanwhile, Kamala Harris showed that she is truly leading for the people — with empathy, knowledge, and strength required to take this country forward. There’s a clear choice for Floridians in this election, and Florida Democrats are going to make sure that voters elect Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, and Democrats up and down the ballot in November.”
