Florida Democratic Party Announces Take Back Local Program for April Elections

March 7, 2025

On March 7th, the Florida Democratic Party is proud to announce the launch of the Take Back Local program supporting four candidates running in April 2025 municipal elections.

This is the second rollout of the Take Back Local program in 2025 reflecting the Florida Democratic Party’s ongoing commitment to supporting candidates in competitive local races across the state. Four candidates selected through a rigorous application and vetting process will receive grassroots organizing and fundraising support from the Florida Democratic Party.

“We are continuing to prioritize local races in 2025 to build back our bench,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “Local elected officials are our last line of defense and often the first stop for constituents. We are proud to support candidates in hyperlocal down-ballot races to ensure we elect more Democrats on the frontlines.”

The Take Back Local slate for April 2025 includes:

  • Peter Altman, New Port Richey City Council
  • MaryJo Mejia Ramos, Miami Springs City Council, Group 2
  • Rosa Campbell, Newberry City Commission, Group V
  • Joy Glanzer, City of Newberry Mayor

The upcoming municipal elections in Miami Springs will be held on April 1, 2025. The election for New Port Richey and City of Newberry will be held on April 8, 2025.
