Duggan’s embrace of third parties comes as he said third parties would “inject chaos”
LANSING - Mike Duggan is continuing to embarrass himself as he embraces third parties with no elected officials and Elon Musk’s confidante Andrew Yang, even though he said last week that “the injection of a third party would add to the chaos.”
Duggan has embraced Yang’s Forward Party and regularly engaged with Yang online — including today. In a recent interview, Yang, who is teaming up with Musk, specifically mentioned Duggan.
Duggan’s embrace of odd-ball third parties comes after he’s played “online footsie” with Elon Musk, tweeting, “Now you’ve got my attention….[smiling emoji]” when Musk first floated his new party. Duggan also said earlier this year that Musk would be the first person he goes and visits if elected governor. Musk has made life tougher for everyday Michiganders, as he worked hand-in-hand with Donald Trump to attack Social Security and gut federal agencies that keep us safe, like air traffic controllers and meteorologists.
After not responding to requests for comment from NOTUS on whether he’d accept Musk’s support, then telling the Detroit Metro Times that they’ll “discuss internally and get back to you when we can,” then responding with a statement that said “the injection of a third party would add to the chaos,” Duggan still hasn’t been clear on whether he’d accept the support of Musk.
“Mike Duggan continues to twist himself into knots as he embraces Elon Musk’s confidante Andrew Yang and odd-ball third parties - even though Duggan said last week that third parties just inject chaos,” said Michigan Democratic Party Chair Curtis Hertel. “It’s clear by Duggan’s groveling to Musk, Yang, and these out-of-state third parties that this is just a vanity campaign for Duggan, whose ego was badly bruised when he realized he couldn’t win a Democratic primary.”
