DPG Chair Charlie Bailey Statement on Georgia U.S. Senate Race

May 6, 2025

Newly elected DPG Chair Charlie Bailey issued the following statement following the news that Georgia Governor Brian Kemp declined to run for U.S. Senate against Senator Jon Ossoff in 2026.

“For the next year, GOP Senate hopefuls, led by wannabe senator Marjorie Taylor Greene, will squabble and grovel for Trump’s favor as they seek the honor of losing decisively to the strongest incumbent swing state Democrat up for re-election to the Senate.

“MTG and her band of hopefuls will have to answer for a tanking economy fueled by tariffs, brutal federal layoffs hitting seniors, vets, and kids, and slashing Medicare and Medicaid.

“While they attack one other and cater to the MAGA extreme right, we will build the most effective and unstoppable turnout effort in state history to re-elect Senator Ossoff, elect a Democratic Governor, and win races all the way down the ballot.”
