SDDP Hires New Staff Member West River

August 12, 2024

The South Dakota Democratic Party is proud to announce the hiring of Anne Jensen who will coordinate field organizing efforts for the state party west river.

Anne was raised on the historic Jensen Ranch near Wall, SD. She grew up in a politically active family with deep Democratic roots spanning five generations. Although Anne has been engaged in political activities throughout her life, she began her professional career in politics in 2021. She was a petitioner for the successful Medicaid expansion initiative in South Dakota. She quickly rose to prominence, becoming the top-ranked petitioner nationwide and securing approximately 22% of the required signatures.

Anne’s dedication and leadership helped her advance rapidly within the political arena. She served as a Deputy Director, Lead Director, and eventually as a Senior Director, managing and training canvassers for campaigns across the United States. With nearly 20 successful campaigns under her belt, Anne has played pivotal roles in various high-impact initiatives, including recent constitutional amendments on reproductive rights in Colorado and Arizona, minimum wage increases in Oklahoma and for healthcare workers in California. She was also part of key voter engagement efforts for Senator Mark Kelly, Governor Katie Hobbs, and Rapid City mayoral candidate Laura Armstrong. Anne has also been part of voter registration and education campaigns, further solidifying her reputation as a skilled and effective political strategist.

“We are so excited for Anne to join our team, bringing her exceptional talents and vast political experience to the western part of our state, making the South Dakota Democratic Party even stronger,” said Executive Director Dan Ahlers.
