Reason #5 Michiganders Can’t Trust Rogers: Revolving Door Rogers Sold Out Michigan and Our National Security to China to Enrich Himself

Rogers “has a long record of helping expand the reach of Chinese companies in the U.S. and Europe.” 

LANSING — After Mike Rogers left Congress, he sold out to China to make “hundreds of thousands of dollars in wealth through companies that have partnered with Chinese firms.” 

Rogers’ “financial connections to China have created questions,” as he has “personally benefited from his connections to China in opposition to U.S. national security interests.” Even Republicans have attacked Rogers for “getting rich cozying up to the Chinese communist party” and trying to “make millions from Saudi companies with nuclear ambitions” as well as “profiting from doing work in areas that they’re overseeing” and “mak[ing] millions” with his revolving door career by selling out Michigan and our national security to China.

Reason #5: Revolving Door Rogers sold out Michigan and our national security to enrich himself: 

• After leaving Congress, Rogers worked for companies with ties to American adversaries that threaten our national security. These foreign ties helped increase Rogers’ personal wealth up to twenty times.

• Rogers has “gained hundreds of thousands of dollars in wealth through companies that have partnered with Chinese firms” and “personally benefited from his connections to China in opposition to U.S. national security interests.”

• Rogers worked for AT&T while “the company was trying to broker a deal to sell Huawei products in the United States” which “the U.S. House of Representatives, citing Rogers’ investigation, urged AT&T to abandon.”
• Rogers has “been linked to several Saudi companies” “in which he has personally gained from, including one with questionable nuclear ambitions.” 

• Even Republicans have criticized Rogers’ financial ties to U.S. adversaries, calling him an “unprincipled career politician” who “should be disqualified from ever taking office” because of his “selfish pattern of using political influence to personally profit.”

Michiganders across the state have “raised concerns” about Mike Rogers who does “anything to enrich himself, even when it hurts working Michiganders:”

• Michigan Laborers District Council Business Manager Geno Alessandrini: “Mike Rogers refuses to stand up for workers, instead he’d rather sell us out to enrich himself. Michigan workers need a champion on our side, but Rogers has made it clear he’s only in this race for himself while Michiganders pay the price.”

• IBEW Local 692 Business Manager and Michigan IBEW State Conference Chair Ryan Charney: “Mike Rogers has shown that he will do anything to enrich himself, even when it hurts working Michiganders. Rogers is not a friend of the working class — he’s only out for himself and his wealthy special interest backers.”

• Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights Political and Legislative Director Eli Isaguirre: “Mike Rogers is more focused on helping China than hardworking Michigan families. We deserve a senator who puts working families first — not someone who’s only focused on enriching himself at the expense of Michiganders.”

• Republican Sandy Pensler: “@MikeRogersForMI is an unprincipled career politician. Rogers’ selfish pattern of using political influence to personally profit from partnerships with the Chinese Communist government against the interests of our country is wrong… This repeats a pattern in which Rogers and his wife coupled to make millions of dollars utilizing his government influence.”

• Republican Sandy Pensler: “After Congress, he’s been taking money from Chinese joint ventures in areas that he said it was terrible, and American companies should steer clear of Chinese joint ventures. His record’s terrible and he doesn’t want it exposed.
