New Clip: LaRose: “Nothing Wrong” With Trump’s Threat to Imprison Election Officials He Deems “Cheats”

September 11, 2024

Columbus, OH - On Sep 11th, Ohio’s Secretary of State, who oversees all elections in the state of Ohio, appeared on CNN, where he was asked about Trump’s threat to imprison officials, including election officials, that he believed cheats. In response, he said there was “nothing wrong with that.”

Donald Trump wrote: WHEN I WIN, those people that CHEATED will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law [..] Please beware that this legal exposure extends to Lawyers, Political Operatives, Donors, Illegal Voters, & Corrupt Election Officials.

To say that nothing is wrong with that statement is blatant partisanship and unacceptable from any elected official, but especially one in charge of administering the election.

“LaRose’s claim that there’s nothing wrong with jailing elections officials is disqualifying for any political office, especially the one that is in charge of administering the most critical election in our state’s history,” said Ohio Democratic Party spokeswoman Katie Seewer. Ahead of November, Ohio Democrats will continue to hold LaRose accountable for the blatant partisanship he’s brought to his office.”
