Maryland Democratic Party Statement on Hogan Directing Millions of Taxpayer Dollars to Business Partners

October 11, 2024

Six of Hogan’s clients won ~40% of housing awards over eight years, beating out 60+ other companies

Maryland Democratic Party Vice Chair Dr. Charlene Dukes released the following statement following new reporting that shows that as governor, Larry Hogan directed millions of taxpayer dollars to his own clients – while holding regular meetings with company leadership:

“Larry Hogan’s decision to steer millions of taxpayer dollars towards his own clients raises serious ethics questions. Marylanders deserve to know why Hogan refused to recuse himself from decisions that led to just a handful of developers on his own payroll getting nearly 40% of the state’s competitive housing awards – and whether or not Hogan would recuse himself from any votes or funding requests in the U.S. Senate that would benefit his own interests. Hogan owes Marylanders an explanation.”
