Per Idaho law, the Legislative District 16 Committee of the Idaho Democratic Party will nominate three qualified candidates and submit those names to Governor Brad Little by July 14, 2025. The governor will then appoint one of those individuals to serve the remainder of the term, which runs through December 2026.

The committee is currently accepting applications from interested candidates who meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a registered Democrat
  • Must have resided in District 16 for at least one year
  • Must be at least 18 years old

The deadline to apply is Sunday, July 6, 2025.

“This is an important opportunity for someone ready to lead and represent the values of District 16,” said District 16 Chair Judy Roesbery. “We’re looking for candidates who are deeply connected to the community and ready to get to work.”

Applications can be submitted online at idahodems.org/LD16.
