ICYMI: Michigan’s El Central Endorses Harris, Slotkin, Bolden, and Thomas in 2024 Election

Michigan’s oldest bilingual newspaper endorses strong Democratic women up and down the ballot

LANSING — In case you missed it, Michigan’s oldest bilingual newspaper, El Central, published their support for Vice President Kamala Harris, Representative Elissa Slotkin, Justice Kyra Harris Bolden, and Kimberly Ann Thomas in their respective races earlier today. Each of these women are experienced leaders ready to tackle the problems facing Michiganders today — from price gouging to affordable housing to defending our fundamental freedoms.

On the other side of the aisle, Donald Trump and his MAGA henchmen have not only denigrated and disrespected the Latino community at every turn, but they have offered no plans to help Latino Michiganders thrive economically. Thankfully, Kamala Harris and Democrats up and down the ballot have an agenda to create jobs and bolster economic opportunities for the Latino community here in Michigan and across the country.

The choice this November is clear: vote for these champions to save Michigan, our families, and our democracy from a disrespectful, anti-democratic candidate who has nothing to offer Michiganders but lies and broken promises.

El Central: Our Opinion – Voters Face Clear Choices this Election

  • The 2024 race for president of the United States has been one of “firsts” highlighted by the surprise passing of the torch by President Joe Biden to a younger generation of leadership embodied by his Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz.

  • On the other hand, former president and twice impeached Donald Trump is seeking to return to the office he did everything he could, legally and illegally, to keep despite losing the 2020 election.

  • In our view, Kamala Harris represents a fresh start to tackling America’s problems, from the economy which is still holding back many Americans, to offering freedom of opportunity and protections of the law that have been stripped away by the radical conservatives appointed by Trump to the US Supreme Court…

  • Donald Trump, for his part, offers no real solutions but would rather denigrate Americans who do not support him…Trump paints immigrants with one broad brush as being rapists, thieves and murderers – something we in our community know is untrue and slanderous.

  • The election is clear: A vote for Kamala Harris is a vote for a renewed America, one where all people have an equal opportunity to buy a home, feed their families, afford quality health care and a good education, and all the things they need to get ahead. We at EL CENTRAL agree, we won’t go back!…

  • Three-term US Representative Elissa Slotkin has earned a reputation as a fair-minded, Democrat who advocates fiercely for her constituents in Michigan’s 8 th Congressional District…We urge you to vote for Elissa Slotkin to keep a consumer advocate and foreign policy expert in the Senate representing Michigan…

  • We believe that the cases to be decided by the Michigan Supreme Court in the near future will require justices to have demonstrated a strong commitment to protecting reproductive rights of women and voting rights for all.

  • EL CENTRAL supports Justice Kyra Harris Bolden and Kimberly Ann Thomas for Michigan Supreme Court.
