ANNAPOLIS, MD - Governor Wes Moore, Maryland’s Best, and Brick & Whistle Food Co. today announced that Oriole Park at Camden Yards is now officially True Blue certified. Created to ensure consumer confidence that crabmeat served is Maryland blue crab meat, the True Blue program aims to highlight restaurants and retailers that are using Maryland crab in their products and dishes.

“The Maryland blue crab is the pride of our state, offering Marylanders and visitors a taste of what makes us great,” said Gov. Moore. “I want to thank our partners at the True Blue program and Camden Yards for investing in our watermen and chefs, preserving our shared heritage, and ensuring that all O’s fans have access to the best locally sourced crab products this season.”

Purchasing fresh Maryland crab meat supports the local seafood industry including commercial waterman and seafood processors, supporting both local and state economies. With the True Blue logo, consumers can be assured that the Maryland crab meat being served received an extra level of inspection through the Maryland Crabmeat Quality Assurance Program.

“Maryland is known for its cuisine and sports. Orioles baseball and Maryland crab go hand in hand,” said Maryland Department of Agriculture Secretary Kevin Atticks. “It’s essential for businesses to try and source as local as possible when they can, as we want to provide the flavor of Maryland to baseball fans from all over filling the ballpark this season. Maryland crab meat hits it out of the park.”

“We pride ourselves on making Oriole Park a place to experience the best that Maryland has to offer, from favorite local restaurants to the state’s bounty of fresh ingredients,” said Brick & Whistle Food Co. Executive Chef Daniel Doyle. “Great food starts with great product, and Maryland blue crab is the best in the world. The True Blue certification further highlights our commitment to serve fans with the highest quality food and beverage experience.”

Brick & Whistle Food Co., Oriole Park’s hospitality team created in partnership with Levy, developed a special menu item featuring True Blue certified Maryland blue crab meat. Fans can find the limited-edition True Blue Crab Cake at the Baltimore Seafood House stand located near section 5. The special menu item is available in limited servings while supplies last at all Orioles home games.

There are currently 45 establishments that are True Blue certified including restaurants and retailers in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and Florida.
