As Georgia Republicans return home for August recess, DPG is reminding voters every day this week of the biggest betrayals of Georgians in Trump’s budget law
Day 2: One of the biggest betrayals of Georgians found in President Donald Trump’s recently enacted budget law is the gutting of rural hospitals.
The GOP U.S. Senate candidates in Georgia have all gone on the record to support Trump’s harmful budget law that could gut nearly $540 million from rural hospitals across the state.
Reporting from the AJC found that Trump’s budget bill “could send struggling rural Georgia hospitals into distress or bankruptcy,” and put four rural hospitals at increased risk of closing or ending services for residents.
Those four hospitals include:
The Georgia Hospital Association outlined that “‘the bill would devastate rural health care in Georgia’ and limit lifesaving services for many families” but that hasn’t stopped “MAGA warrior” Rep. Buddy Carter, MAGA extremist Rep. Mike Collins, or failed and fired former Tennessee football coach Derek Dooley from continuing to stand behind this law.
“Georgia’s GOP U.S. Senate candidates are throwing rural Georgians under the bus by supporting a law that seriously threatens the future of the hospitals in their communities,” said Democratic Party of Georgia Senior Communications Advisor Devon Cruz. “The Democratic Party of Georgia will be reminding Georgians throughout August recess that these three anti-health care extremists don’t deserve the votes of the communities they are hurting in their bids for power.“
