As Georgia Republicans return home for August recess, DPG is reminding voters every day this week of the biggest betrayals of Georgians in Trump’s budget law
Day 1: One of the biggest betrayals of Georgians found in President Donald Trump’s recently enacted budget law is the attacks on affordable health care.
The candidates in the field for the GOP U.S. Senate primary have all gone on the record to support Trump’s harmful budget law that delivers a massive nearly $1 trillion cut to Medicaid and adds so much to the deficit that it could trigger nearly $500 billion in cuts to Medicare.
In Georgia, nearly two million Georgians rely on Medicaid, and another nearly two million seniors rely on Medicare.
The law is projected to rip away affordable health insurance from nearly 750,000 Georgians, making it harder for families to get the care they need, for seniors to stay in their nursing homes, and threatening the future of health care jobs across the state.
That hasn’t stopped Republicans running and considering running for Senate from supporting these harmful cuts against Georgians:
“Despite the millions of Georgians who rely on Medicaid and Medicare, Republicans in the GOP Senate primary have quickly and proudly aligned themselves with Trump’s harmful budget law that would gut affordable health care access in Georgia,” said Democratic party of Georgia Senior Communications Advisor Devon Cruz. “The Democratic Party of Georgia will be reminding Georgians throughout August recess that these three anti-health care extremists want to rip away affordable health insurance instead of working to expand it“
