Glenn Youngkin Doubles Down on Project 2025: Trump's Firing of 150,00 Virginia Federal Workers Could Be 'Absorbed'

August 14, 2024

On Wednesday, Glenn Youngkin doubled down on Donald Trump and JD Vance’s plans to fire career civil servants, replace them with MAGA loyalists, and move government jobs out of Virginia. Glenn, who is worth $440 million, said there is no need for middle-class Virginians to worry “if there should be any movement” (i.e. 150,000 Virginians are fired by Trump and Vance per their Agenda 47 and Project 2025 Playbook) of jobs out of the Commonwealth– there are plenty of jobs in Virginia that can “absorb the supply of talented workers.”

Here’s his full quote: “We can sit around and play ‘what if’ games on both sides on what they’re going to propose and what they’re not going to propose and the reality of this is, it is all speculative. Second of all, to think that there should be any movement in the workforce, that there aren’t enough jobs in Virginia to absorb those talented workers, is a complete mischaracterization.”

So not only does Glenn Youngkin not oppose the movement of over 100,000 jobs out of Virginia, he believes that skilled workers, some of whom have spent their entire careers in the federal government, can find a new job in a week. That they can afford to live comfortably without an income or benefits until they’re able to get a new job.

He even said that people worried about it are merely playing a “what if” game. To Glenn, that single parent worrying about losing their healthcare benefits for themselves and their children are playing silly “what if” games. To Glenn, the career civil servant worried about losing their retirement benefits is playing silly “what if” games. To Glenn, Virginians worried about their state’s economy are playing silly “what if” games.

Virginians’ livelihoods aren’t a game.
