On Oct 24th, the Florida Democratic Party announced a six-figure investment in the Orange County Democratic Executive Committee, providing a funding boost for grassroots organizing in Central Florida. The investment will support organizing efforts for house and local races to advance the party’s mission to break the supermajority and take back key seats in 2024.
“This critical support will ensure that voters in Orange County understand what’s at stake in this election, especially in competitive down-ballot races,” said Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried. ”Orange County Democrats have been organizing year-round and built a strong grassroots machine — this additional investment allows them to fine tune and bolster their operation and keep our eye on the prize.”
“We are incredibly grateful to the Florida Democratic Party and Chair Nikki Fried for their substantial investment in our GOTV efforts in Orange County. Our dedicated volunteers have been knocking on doors, making calls, sending text messages, and greeting voters at polling sites every day, and because of their work, we are on the cusp of victories that will shape the future of our community and state,” said Samuel Vilchez Santiago, Chair of the Orange County Democratic Party.
Last month, the Florida Democratic Party announced the Take Back Distinction program and Take Back Local slate, highlighting the most competitive state and local races. In Orange County, there are nine critical races selected to receive increased party support, including five key legislative seats, two county commission races, one school board election and the battle to re-elect State Attorney Monique Worrell.
