D.C. Republicans Try to Take Early Vacation

July 24, 2025

Republicans in the House gaveled out early, even though they haven’t passed a farm bill since 2018

Des Moines - Just because Iowa’s Congressional delegation left D.C. early – even though they haven’t passed a new farm bill since 2018 - doesn’t mean their job is done.

Surely, during their six-week vacation, Iowa’s Republican delegation will find time to host more townhalls this year, just like Miller-Meeks promised.

Reps. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, Ashley Hinson, Zach Nunn and Randy Feenstra have a lot to answer for while they’re in Iowa through Sept. 2.

  • Why did you leave early with no farm bill when the ag economy is slumping and Iowa’s economy is 49th in the nation?
  • Will any Iowans be kicked off their medical insurance because of the passed budget bill?
  • What do you have to say to Iowans who may will up losing their health insurance because of your vote?
  • Before the budget bill passed, Marianette Miller-Meeks said that removing the clean energy tax credits prematurely would “undermine private investments and stop development that is already ongoing.” And then she voted for a bill that will do just that. What will happen to Iowans’ energy prices because of her vote?
  • Why do most of the tax cuts go to the rich and not to those who actually need them?
  • Why did you pass a budget that adds trillions to the deficit and raises interest rates for everyone?
  • What do you have to say to the Iowans whose local hospital may close because of the Medicaid cuts you voted for?
